Daytime Connections Lunch - October 11

As our community in Ottawa reels from the tragedy unfolding in Israel, our thoughts and prayers are with family, friends, and loved ones across Canada, Israel, and beyond. The next weeks and months will be a trying period for us all.

Joining together is now more important than ever. Machzikei will host a special, in-person ‘Daytime Connections’ discussion on Israel on Wednesday, October 11, Noon, in place of our planned “Mission Afghanistan” event (which has been postponed to November).

Rabbi Scher will lead us in learning, prayer, and discussion.

We will also be joined by Becca Wertman, Director of Research at the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and a Canadian-Israeli. Prior to joining CIJA, she worked as a political aide for Member of Knesset Michal Cotler-Wunsh and as Managing Editor at NGO Monitor in Jerusalem. Becca grew up in Vancouver and has a MA in Political Science from Columbia University and a BA in International Relations from the University of Southern California. Becca will provide an overview of the current situation in Israel, Canada’s response, and what role we can each play to support our Israeli brothers and sisters.
